Hello Everyone!
This is a quick note to let you know why you haven’t heard from me. Right now I’m at a hotel in PA for a speaking engagement at Penn State University tonight and tomorrow. Then I’m off to VA to visit my family.
I fell behind last week and was in the middle of writing my weekly gratitude post when “the storm” hit. Everything, including my computer, blacked out. Thinking the power would come back on soon, I wasn’t worried.
But an hour turned into a few hours, which turned into a night and then a full day and night. As of right now, I’ve been without power over 2, going on to 3 days. I was forced to clean out my fridge just before leaving on this trip.
Fortunately, I sent a link of my Wordpress Administration panel to myself (yahoo email) so that I could write an update while on the road. This is actually the first time since the storm that I’ve been able to log on to a computer and write a quick post.
I’m in the hotel lobby using their computer but up to this point, I had been using my Blackberry to stay in touch with people via email and Twitter.
So now you all know what I’m up to. I do have a gratitude post “in waiting” and I also have an update on my next 30 day experiment. The “Tim Ferris Diet” is OVER. I’ve now embarked on a new way of eating, raw/living food. Of course, I’m not going 100% raw but I’m sure increasing its proportion! More on that later.
Penn State (Altoona) hired me to speak three times to three separate groups of people. The first is tonight at 6 pm, which is actually open to the public while the second and third are being held tomorrow. When I’m done, I’ll hit the road again and travel to Fairfax, VA to visit with my brother.
Thanks for understanding folks! Have a great week - oh, by the way, if you’ve been without power because of the storm, I know how it feels!

Hi Stephen,
When you told me about your power outage and cleaning out your frig, I had to smile at my own interesting refrigerator story and a diet change. How a broken frig fixed my plan.
About three years ago I kept having this feeling I wasn’t eating what was ‘right’ for me. I kept promising myself, I’d start looking for a new plan, but in the meantime I’d eat what I had in my frig, stop freezing things or having any surplus on hand. Let it dwindle, so I could start anew. One very hot (97 degrees) August day I came home to find my refrigerator had died, 5 days out of the original five year warranty.
Everything, including the refrigerator had to go. I had one of those tiny refrigerators in my basement that only was there for water, next to the exercise equipment. I decided to use that frig for awhile to get in the habit of only buying what I could eat in a few days, so everything was as fresh as possible.
Even though I couldn’t seem to make the time to figure out the new eating plan and buying schedule, it seems it all got figured out for me.
I do wish however the darn thing would’ve broken a few days earlier while it was still under replacement warranty, it was only five years old. Turned out, it was not worth the cost to repair. So when I said everything had to go, I had no idea I’d be including the refrigerator!

@ Barbara:
Isn’t that interesting? I find it amazing that a broken fridge led you to a transformational change with respect to better eating habits. I love it!
In a funny sort of way, this is also what happened to me because when I got home (yesterday), I knew I had to go shopping for my fridge was bare. Even though I was already on the 30 day raw food diet experiment and therefore mindful of stocking up on the right foods, before I left, I threw out very old things that were sitting in the fridge. Items that I rarely used (like ketchup, mustard) plus junk food like peanut butter and jelly pocket sandwiches were all thrown out and not replaced.
So in a way, I experienced the same thing you did. When I went shopping last night, I only stocked the fridge with fruits and vegetables plus water and one carton of soy milk (for coffee - I still drink em but less now).
What a story! Thanks for sharing.
