I purposefully waited an extra day before writing the end of the week gratitude post because I wanted to give everyone a chance to digest the previous article on how I made $2500 simply by making a comment at another blog.
My goal at Adversity University is to leave enough room in between posts to give you a chance to breathe and enjoy them one at a time. (Photo: Gabo)
Here we go:
The Book
Lately, many of you have been telling me how much you’ve been enjoying updates regarding the birth of my first book so I thought I would start off by giving you one:
- If you look at the top right hand corner, you’ll see I created a new tab “E-book Coming Soon!” On that page is the proposed table of contents along with other information.
- I am still in the midst of editing the manuscript and am now up to Chapter 16, “The World is Conspiring to Bless You If You Just Believe.” On the days I choose to focus on this task, I’ve been blessed with new ways of tightening the manuscript by deleting unnecessary words and adding more descriptive sentences. On most days, it’s a challenge I relish. I expect the editing to be completed by the end of next week.
- Once the editing is done, i will be contacting various people to get their testimonials. Let me know if you want to be among them. It will be sent in .pdf format with never before seen photos and useful links.
- Mark Joyner, the creator of Simpleology’s Bestseller Blueprint recently sent me a customized version based on our recent telephone conversation. It now has very specific tasks that need to be accomplished. For the first time since I wrote the original manuscript several years ago, I’m very motivated to see all the way through the entire process!
- I’ve begun to compile a list of potential promotional partners who I either already have an existing relationship with or would like to develop one. These are people who might be in a position to help me promote the book on a yet-to-be selected launch date. Some of them have very large mailing lists while others might have the right connections. As of this writing, I’ve listed 50 potential partners with more being added everyday.
- The title of the book remains to be determined. A list of potential titles and subtitles will be run through Google’s Adword program to test for keyword strengths and weaknesses.
SOBCon08 Blogging Conference
A new development has taken place with respect to the SOBCon08 blogging conference that I am attending next month.
Thanks to the herculean efforts of Karen Putz from A Deaf Mom Shares Her World, arrangements have been made to obtain sponsorships to cover the cost of interpreters for the hearing impaired.
However, I received an email yesterday from her stating that while she managed to get most of the expenses covered, she was still trying to find a sponsor for a 2nd interpreter for Saturday. Have you ever noticed how conferences with interpreters have a least two of them working side by side? That’s because interpreting is grueling physical work and they have to alternate every 15 to 20 minutes. Karen wanted to know if I had any sponsorship ideas.
Since I couldn’t think of any offhand, I recommended that she contact Liz Strauss, the force behind SOBCon08. Within hours, Liz sent me an email with a brilliant idea. She told me that one of their sponsors, TopHostingCenter, was actually looking for an opportunity to increase their sponsorship over what they were already offering conference participants (a $99 lifetime hosting offer).
When Liz brought the interpreter situation to their attention, they immediately agreed to foot the bill for the 2nd interpreter! I was so thrilled that I ended up talking with the CEO about the possibility of having them host all of my websites!
This could not have come at a better time because I had already been actively searching for a new hosting company. Unfortunately emails through my current server have been labeled as spam by other ISP servers, causing many of my correspondences to fall by the wayside. I was growing increasingly frustrated over this. They kept telling me they couldn’t do anything about it other than asking people to “whitelist” my email address so that it wouldn’t be labeled as spam. GRRRRRRRR!
I’m grateful for the recent turn of events here – thanks to Karen’s efforts and TopHostingCenter, she and I won’t miss a thing!
Be sure to let me know if you’re going so we can have an opportunity to meet in person for the first time. Okay?
A Gift from a Long-Time Subscriber
Today, I received a large package in the mail from Sharmaine Hobbs, a long-time subscriber. You may remember I mentioned last week that she was spring cleaning her office when she came upon a set of unused printer cartridges. She asked if i could use them to which I replied yes and they came in today’s mail!
Thank you Sharmaine for your generosity!
Las Vegas Speaking Engagement
And finally but not least, I am flying to Las Vegas on Monday to give a closing keynote speech for a group of hospital CEO’s and other health care professionals. It’ll be my first time there and because of that, I took the opportunity to book myself an extra day for some local sightseeing afterwards. Look for some pictures here after I come back!
You can see the agenda for this conference right here. Scroll down until you see Tuesday’s schedule. I will be speaking at 11 am. Note: The title of my program has been changed to “Transforming Adversity Into Success.”
Thanks goes to the Risk Management Institute for hiring me back after I did this program for them last Fall in Michigan.
Food for thought: The more you find reasons to be grateful, the more you will experience a flow of gifts, opportunities and inner joy. Let me ask you what are you grateful for this week?

Stephen I’m so grateful this week to still have a house and an uninjured daughter. It’s so weird to be totally in the flow of life and then learn firsthand how it all can turn on a dime… Go up in smoke as it were…. I was evacuated because of fire but luckily all is well….. I’m grateful to have blogging friends such as you…. I’m grateful ….
First time in Vegas? Watch out Baby!

I’m really grateful to TopHostingCenter for sponsoring one of the interpreters for Saturday. The other sponsor is Chicago Hearing Society who will provide the other interpreter. I’m now working on getting a final sponsor for Friday and Sunday and it looks like we may be close to having a third sponsor.
I’m indeed thankful for these wonderful companies to make it possible for us to access the SOBCon conference.
Looking forward to chatting with everyone there. Last year I was as quiet as a mouse. This year, maybe not!

You said it! I’m also grateful for all the sponsorships that came together magically so that people like you and I can enjoy the conference in full. Nothing beats being able to “participate” like the others.
I look forward to watching you transform from a mouse to a cat at SOBCon08!
Again, thanks for all your hard work. It’s going to be one magnificent event – I can feel it.

Yes, many more feeds have happened since this post. LOL. I tend to fall behind in reading too so I know what you’re going through. The nice thing is whatever was written after this post will continue to stay here – they’re not going anywhere!
