Brad:

Corinne's suggestions along with another subscriber (who emailed me privately) will be on my "to-do" list.

Simple things like adding plants, especially orchids (I got that idea from Bill Strickland's book "Make the Impossible Possible") can do wonders to a person's home.

Thanks for the tips!

Stephen, great post. You were really on a roll cranking out the words today. I would have never imagined that your house was bland though, you see the World through different eyes and I would have thought your home would have been pretty bright and colorful. Good luck with the tips from Corrine, they sounded pretty good. I would add some plants and some natural features such as unique rocks, wood carvings or pieces of wood, a stained piece of bird's eye maple is very attractive.

Brad Baggett's last blog post..Brain Candy - Don’t rot your mind!

Although it's much better if you can get it in the right accent, I think that Robert Duvall (as country singer Max Sledge) summed it up pretty well in the great movie TENDER MERCIES:

I've never trusted happiness; nope, never have, and never will.

Michael Werner's last blog post..I’d Love to Do That, But I Don’t Have the Time (Podcast)

Corinne:

I might have to hire you as my interior decorator. LOL. Thanks for the tips. I'll get on it right away.

Then I'll let you know what happened. Maybe even take some pictures? Yes, that's what I'll do! I guess I have to buy a digital camera now. Any advice there?

Hi Stephen -

Wonderful answers. OK. Here's my new job. I have been your great admirer and fan. Now, I will be your decorator.

1. Buy a beautiful new rug for your living room. Colors you love. There are sales all around now in the department stores. You can even find some wonderful fake orientals at Costco, Home Depot, Marshalls,
etc.

2. Throw pillows add a lot of warmth to a couch

3. Invest in a beautiful new coverlet for your sleigh bed.

4. Call Country Curtains (800#) for their catalog. Reasonable drapes and cozy curtains. They will even sell you the rods.

OK. That's the drill. No more complaints from you!

I am coming over for an inspection!

Love,
