Stephen Hopson Interview with Shaun Boyd Coming Up!

If you’ve been part of the Adversity University community for some time, chances are pretty good you’ve seen at least one or two stories by Shaun Boyd of LifeReboot because I’ve “Stumbled” and given out link love for some of his articles including ”The Working Dead.”

Shaun Boyd was invited to be interviewed at “Stephen Hopson Interviews” largely on the basis of one very compelling story where he took a HUGE leap of faith and bared his soul for the world to see.  The post was so honest, so authentic and incredibly transparent that it left a permanent imprint on my heart.  In fact, when I first created “Stephen Hopson Interviews,” I knew I would be inviting him to be a part of it.

What was the extraordinary article that “left an impression on my heart,” you ask?

It was ”The Mistake of Becoming Complacent” where he admitted to have grown complacent with his blog.  Up to that point, he was receiving generous monthly donations, reaching $700 in early September 2007.  But because he grew cocky and took for granted his newfound income stream, he more or less stopped writing.  Needless to say, donations quickly dried up, putting him in a potentially precarious financial situation.  That, of course, would smack anyone awake.  After all, there is truth to the saying that “money talks.”  Wink, wink.

To his credit, he rose to the occasion and issued a public apology that can be summed up this way:

I screwed up and I’m really sorry for it. Can we start again?

I’m pleased to say that he not only continued to provide his subscribers (of which I am one) with excellent articles after that episode, but he’s also being interviewed here at Adversity University next week!  It will take place on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 with the second half following a week after that (January 30).

Having made that announcement, I’m delighted to say that Shaun is actually one step ahead of me in terms of promoting this interview.

Apparently the question, What would you say was the defining moment that forever changed the course of your life? had him stumped to the point where he felt compelled to write an entire article in response.  You can see it at The Power to Choose

While he’s already answered this question and thus giving everyone a sneak preview of what’s coming, his response to the above question will still appear in next week’s interview but with a much shorter version of ”The Power to Choose.”

Am I excited?  You bet!  Are you?  I hope so!

One more thing.  I have not forgotten my “end of the week” gratitude theme post.  It’ll be posted tomorrow (Saturday) for Sunday morning delivery.   So hang in there, it’s coming!

It is important that he at least acknowledges his mistakes. On that score, I have high regards for him. It is not easy to issue a public apology and he is pretty brave, in my opinion. to have done such.

    Jay:

I agree with you. Acknowledging our vulnerabilities and sharing them with the world is, in my opinion, one of the ways we become inspired and get connected. It’s not easy to make a public apology the way he did because it makes him very vulnerable, subject to negative attacks, which is never easy to deal with.
