I totally agree with you here about how it’s up to me to choose how I will carry out whatever I feel led to. That’s where free will comes in.

Oh yes, it makes total sense what you said about writing and how you first felt it was your “purpose” - that’s what I felt speaking was to me. But you’ve clarified it so incredibly well with a few simple words “just the instrument to express…..” You are right on target here - speaking is just an instrument by which I can express my purpose, which as you stated, is to love, serve and heal. Absolutely!

Stephen, Liara and everyone, I can’t help but jump in here.
Having spent my life on ‘Life Purpose’ issues, and now speaking and facilitating on this subject I believe that for most people I’ve discovered this:
We all have the same purposes, some of which include: To Love, To Serve, To Heal.
HOWEVER, we implement and express it in different ways from our Soul. Stephen, I have no doubt you are a Healer, and are also here to Inspire. You can choose to inspire through speaking, writing and so forth. If INSPIRE is a word that resonates with you as part of your purpose, then it is up to you to CHOOSE how to do that, using gifts, talents, your personality etc. The closer we get to communicating with our own Soul through intuition and some of the other methods you mention, the more our expression will vibrate out into the world, feeling as though we are more ‘on purpose’.
So, I used to write a lot. I believed it was ‘my purpose’, however I realize that writing was just the instrument to express my purpose - of teaching, loving, serving …..Make sense?

It could work both ways, depending on the situation or individual. For instance, I believe we all have a pre-ordained mission that was decided before birth but after birth, a veil is placed over us where we forget. We spend a lifetime “remembering” (hopefully) and then we find out through trial and error what our purpose is through whatever means available to us (spiritual awakening, meditation, prayer, education, etc.).

For instance I had a spiritual awakening of sorts several years ago where I believed I woke up to the fact that I was born deaf for a purpose. At the time, I thought becoming a motivational speaker was part of the destiny package but as time continues to pass, I am beginning to wonder if it’s more than that. I’m beginning to wonder if there’s another purpose that I haven’t yet discovered (but I know it has something to do with the healing arts). Who knows?

Some people believe they are born with a purpose or destiny and then evolve in the physical world to teach themselves to remember what they forgot. Other people do not believe they arrive with a single purpose. Instead, they believe their sense of purpose is constantly or at least frequently changing along with their self-awareness.

As you can probably tell, I enjoy writing, especially when I’m in the “zone” and words have a way of flowing from the mind to the keyboard. I always feel good afterwards, knowing that it felt right to write. Hey, that sounds like a new title “Felt Right to Write.” Hmmmm…wonder what I could do with that?

I just found you after interviewing Corinne Edwards, and she talks about you in my interview. Anyway, I love your take on Destiny. - I’ve been searching my whole life. In fact I love searching for purpose and meaning and destiny. I’ve spend 20 years figuring out my destiny and how to tap into our purpose… In fact, you might say it was my passion…..Figures. Now I’m teaching others how to follow their purpose and destiny…:)

Stephen,
This is a most powerful post that drummed straight into my heart this morning. I love the concept of my “unique inner blueprint” and the quote “Destiny is like that. It prepares you every step of the way until it appears at your doorstep.” I am answering the call…I will not allow my destiny to wait any longer. Awesome!!!!!And what a great dose of encouragement for today.
You are truly standing squarely in your destiny and we are all grateful that you heeded he call.
