@<a href="http://www.adversityuniversityblog.com/2007/07/08/what-is-your-gift-to-the-world/#comment-11378"> Graham Richards</a>:

Hi and welcome to Adversity University!

Yes, I know how he went on to bigger and better things all because he had the courage to stand before 3 judges and an audience that didn't know what to make of him.

I've experienced this many times ("people not knowing what to make of me") because when they hear me speak or see the hearing aid in my right ear, it makes them somewhat unsure. All the preconceived notions about the deaf come flying in at a moment's notice. Then it changes the moment they find out who I really am and what I've done.

It's an interesting phenomena about human behavior. I find it rather amusing. Thanks for stopping by Graham! Nice to have a guest from the UK here. :)

Stephen,
Paul Potts went on to win the 2007 "Britain's got Talent" and performed before our Queen at the 2007 Royal Variety Performance. He's since gone on to a record-breaking recording career and is performing all over the world.

William:

Isn't it amazing? I get the chills everytime I watch it. There's something so magical about this - how can anyone not be inspired by it? Thanks for stopping by and letting me know you enjoyed this post.

[...] Many of us have cultivated a set of erroneous beliefs that we need to be stronger, faster, smarter, prettier or thinner in order to get our hands on the “prize.” Remember the opera singer in that YouTube video? Even though he was surrounded by others who were also vying for the top prize, he was truly in a class all by himself. If you missed it, you can see it here. [...]
