You may recall an article I wrote called “When There is a Strong Desire, there is a Way.” I’ve often mentioned a favorite quote out of a book called “Conversations with God” by Neale Donald Walsch:
“When you “make up your mind” about something, you set the universe into motion. Forces beyond your ability to comprehend–far more subtle and complex than you could imagine — are engaged in a process, the intricate dynamics of which you are only just now beginning to understand.”
Going along with that quote and the above mentioned article, I wish to bring you up to date on what’s been happening since that fateful day when I met the woman at that speaking engagement who said she would help me put together a book proposal for her literary agent’s review and consideration.
The “forces beyond your ability to comprehend” also brought into existence a young man who happens to be a member of my church , Ron Hoff, who is extraordinarily talented in the area of video production and editing.
One day my intuition prompted me (the universe working here!) to ask Ron if he would help us put together a DVD that would go along with the book proposal. He immediately saw the big picture and said, “yes.”
After several weeks of revisions, we finally came out with a DVD that will be included in the book proposal for “THAT’S RIGHT, STEPHEN!” (remember the impact Mrs. Jordan made on my life? Remember the story of “Three Words“?
Anyway, I want everyone to know that when there is a strong desire and you make a firm decision that you will achieve a certain vision, powerful universal forces beyond your wildest imagination come together to support you in ways you’d never dreamt possible. Food for thought: Never discount the power of the universe when you make a firm, clear decision about something. You can be sure you’ll eventually achieve your dreams if you just stick with it.

This touching story you share reminds us never to underestimate the influences of teachers in our lives. A passing comment or gesture will eventaully change our lives in some way. You are fortunate enough to follow the thread back and recall the name of your most influential teacher. Not everyone has such an impeccable memory. And yet, your experience reminds people to value every relationship they have because you never know how profound an influence people will have on your life. Everyone you meet is encouraging you to rais the figurative bar or, to avt to take yourself to new heights.

I wouldn’t say I have “impeccable” memory because I don’t always recall names of people who were just introduced to me at a party! But I do remember names of people who had a major impact on my life. And my fifth grade teacher was one of them.
And I also want to add to your comment that even the relationships that were considered “bad” or “unpleasant” also should be valued because there was a lesson in there somewhere. Hopefully you learn something from the experience. For instance, the bully experience I had with “David” from elementary school taught me the power of blind faith and listening to my intuition to stand up for myself (of course, I didn’t recognize this lesson until many years later). But as an adult looking back, it was crystal clear why David, the bully, entered my life at that time.

From the moment you doubt yourself or ability, you lie to yourself in ways you have yet to grasp. People mentally imagine weaknesses and reinforce inadequacies without realizing it. They mutter things like, they “can’t,” “don’t,” “haven’t got,” or otherwise “lack.” Every thought and feeling sends a vibe of energy into the universe that reinforces the lies ego tells you. The more you hear or feel something, the more likely you are to believe it. As you learn you create your own mistaken views, you learn you can refine and replace them. Your deliberate intention to transcend lies emerges. It is a process that goes on beneath conscious awareness until you are ready to acknowledge it and raise the bar. Then, you find you are doing this and do not choose to look back at how things used to be. They no longer matter. Your sense of the past dissolves. In this context, I highly recommend a book called No Excuses by Kyle Maynard and also the Hellen Keller story. People like them share inspirational stories.
As for your reflection about bullies, many readers will relate. It seems easier to realize lessons we learn after the fact. In reality, your awareness is slowly shifting. Your sense of time is changing. Your mind shifts to appreciate what is happening as it is happening and even before it happens. This foresight evolves to empowers you. A sense of bully arises as you imagine fear and permit it to control you. As an adult, you may look back and realize your ego is the bully. As your mind develops and you gather life experience, you become better equipped to navigate the physical world with all its figurative landmines.
