I hope it inspires someone too! BTW, next time you leave a comment, please put in your real name, not "Steel Buildings Scotland" because then you're using my blog to advertise your service. Thanks!

Wow that was a really touching story. My brother is a commercial pilot and I remember he really struggled with the training and said his instructor was really impatient. I can't imagine how hard it must have been for a deaf person. And it sounds like Don was an amazing guy. I hope this story inspires some people.

Sorry it's taken so long to respond back to you - I'm in grad school and have temporarily left my blog to stand on its own two feet until I come back to writing again. I'm so glad you've enjoyed some of my articles and hope you will read through the archives and become a subscriber so that when I write a new article, it will automatically go to your email address.

Cheers!

No but there is a fellow, whose name I cannot remember, who just became the first deaf Sports Pilot Flight Instructor. His name is Gregory H. Lawerence and there was an article on him which can be found here: http://media-dis-n-dat.blogspot.com/2010/01/deaf-pilot-seeks-to-become-first-deaf.html

Hi Stephen,
Do you know if there is Deaf Commercial Pilot and a Deaf Flight Instructor around? I don't think so. Happy New Year to you.

Hi Stephen,
I came across this post (story) of yours on an articles site. Of-course I had to post it my blog where I write about flight training and the passion for aviation. I am a flight instructor of 10+ years now, and I can completely understand your feelings about Don, and his greatness. May his soul rest in peace. Also my kudos to you for your achievements as a pilot, blogger and for helping so many other people by writing such great stuff. I will be back here to read more. Also, I will update the link in that post to reflect your new blog address.
