Donna:

How wonderful of a story you just shared with me and everyone else! You held me in suspense throughout the story, not revealing what actually happened until the very end. Wow, very masterful!

I'll bet you're a good storyteller too, just by the way you write. Cool.

How did you find me by the way? And congratulations on your next speaking gig (Univ of Alaska) - I already checked out your blog! :)

p.s. I just subscribed to your blog too cuz I immediately felt connected to you so I'm looking forward to learning more about you :)

What a fabulous story!! Kudos to you for facing it head on...I'm sure you endeared yourself to your audience by doing just that!

Long before I made the decision to become a professional speaker, I was asked to be a panel speakers in front of a group of high school students about volunteering for the organization I was employed by. I didn't think I was nervous, and when my turn came, I approached the lectern and began speaking. About half way through my 4 minute speech, I felt ill. The last thing I remember was thinking to myself, "just say two more sentences and then sit down." The next thing I remember is hearing someone say "she's waking up!" There I was in a chair next to the lectern with all eyes on me. I had completely passed out. I found out later that the kids had seen me start to go and yelled "Catch Her!" Fortunately, someone did.

My speech was a bust...but I had more kids at my literature table when the panel session was over than anyone else! LOL!!!

My boss never asked me to give another speech again. I'm sure they never dreamed I'd be making my living giving presentations all over the country.

So far...that's the only time I've fainted! LOL!

Thanks for sharing such a great story, Stephen. So glad to find your blog.
